This young woman has lost her love at sea, the purple (although not purple) finch is a symbol of love and passion, probably due to its striking appearance and melodious song. An original mixed media portrait on a thick Khadi cotton rag paper, with a lovely deckled edge. The substrate is highly absorbent which causes the paint to take on a very pleasing matt quality, which in turn makes the portrait seem almost antique. Size approx. 21cm x 15cm.
