Welcome, step inside...
"Once upon a time there was a little girl called Samantha Jane who loved to draw and play with her dolls. Being a quiet sort of child, she spent a lot of time immersed in her story books too; Beatrix Potter, Bramley Hedge and Grandmother Lucy to name a few. She would pour over the illustrations and dream of a world where animals dressed in little clothes, lived in miniature houses in trees, and dolls moved and talked in fanciful outfits within the dolls' house."
After a lifetime of collecting curios, dolls and books inspired by my childhood memories, I am moved to recreate those small adventures in my own work as a mixed media artist. Whether I am using vintage lace and cotton to fashion a doll, or seashells and resin to make a brooch, I aim to create timeless pieces for you to cherish and pass on. Sourcing vintage fabrics and ephemera for use in my pieces is part of the joy and brings about a whole world of excitement for the found and reimagined. In the pieces I hand make, draw and paint, I am looking for the unexpected and playful, the feminine and nostalic. I am delighted you have stopped by my little shop to have a peep, and welcome you along into my whimsical world of wistful paper ladies, eccentric Victorian Lover's Eye brooches, darling dolls and other curiosities.
Thank you for being part of my continuing story!
