Nurture Nature Applique Box Frame

I particularly enjoyed making the 'stump work' beetle in this appliqued scene. A technique that creates three-dimensional, sculptural effects by raising the embroidery off the background using wadding. Originated in England during the 17th century, but with European roots, being used for religious items, as far back as the 15th century. I love to rummage through my collection of vintage textiles and compose a picture with them; often featuring a bird, a female, or imaginary garden, to name a few! I try to capture a vintage look with my creations and hope they will be keepsakes of the future.
