Death's-head Hawkmoth, Impending Death

An original mixed media portrait on a thick Khadi cotton rag paper, with a lovely deckled edge. This mysterious beauty is wearing a single earring depicting a Lover's Eye cameo; the death's-head hawkmoth would have us believe that the owner of the eye is perhaps already deceased. The substrate is highly absorbent which causes the paint to take on a very pleasing matt quality, which in turn makes the portrait seem almost antique. Size approx. 21cm x 15cm.
